SGR Obtains Favorable Ruling for City of Atlanta
Smith, Gambrell & Russell represented the City of Atlanta in obtaining a favorable ruling from the Georgia Court of Appeals in a challenge to the taxability of land in Clayton County held for development of the fifth runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Court ruled that land owned by the City and held for a bona fide airport expansion project was exempt from taxes. The decision is City of Atlanta v. Clayton County Board of Tax Assessors, 284 Ga. App. 871 (2007).
The SGR attorneys who worked on this case were Edward H. Wasmuth, Jr. and William V. Hearnburg, Jr.
