Florian A. Stamm

Florian Stamm, a German native, is Counsel in the Corporate, International and Sustainability practices of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.

Mr. Stamm practices corporate, international and renewable energy law with an emphasis on American-European cross-border legal matters. These matters include the acquisition, merger, financing and disposition of business and real estate assets, corporate governance and shareholder rights, business and family succession, as well as the establishment of subsidiaries in the American market. He serves as US counsel to various renewable energy companies, including wind and solar energy developers, independent power producers, and manufacturers of renewable energy technologies in a variety of business transactions. A frequent speaker at international energy industry conferences, Mr. Stamm discusses legal issues related to the US market for renewable energies, sustainability, climate policy and greenhouse gas legislation, and the development and financing of renewable energy resources. Additionally, he speaks regularly on general legal issues arising from US/German cross-border business.

Mr. Stamm graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Anthropology and Biology, summa cum laude, from Butler University. As part of his studies he spent a semester in residence at Arizona State University, where he participated in an anthropological field study in Ensenada, Mexico. Mr. Stamm earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia and was named a Dean’s Ambassador. While in law school, he served as the Executive Editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. As a teaching assistant at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, he taught the class “The Regulatory and Legal Environment of Business”.

Mr. Stamm actively writes on issues of international interest. His publications include:

Mr. Stamm is a member of the Georgia State Bar, the American Bar Association, the German American Chamber of Commerce, and is active in Atlanta’s German-American community. He is on the Executive Committees of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia State Bar Section of International Law. Mr. Stamm also serves on the International Connection Committee, an effort between Georgia State University and the Atlanta legal and business communities to invite students from former communist countries to attend Georgia State University College of Law for one semester. He also volunteers his time to several charitable causes.
